⦿ College sailing is not an official NCAA sport and is governed by the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association
⦿ The sport does have a very long and rich college history and some of America’s most prestigious universities have varsity sailing teams
⦿ The national championship is held in six different categories. These are women’s single-handed, men’s single-handed and the Match Racing Championships in the fall as well as Women’s Dinghy, Coed Dinghy and Team Racing in the spring
⦿ There are 275 college sailing programs and roughly 3,000 college sailors
⦿ Most successful sailing teams: Stanford, Northwestern, Georgetown, Old Dominion, Yale, MIT, Washington, Charleston
